A Single Missing Tooth
Among young adults, an implant is often used to replace a single tooth lost to a sporting or other accident, or to provide an artificial tooth where your natural tooth has never developed or has been lost.
Implants allow you to replace a single missing tooth with a natural looking crown, restoring your smile. The crown and implant will be completely invisible and look, feel and function like your other natural teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions
We take digital x-rays and study models (plaster casts) of your jaw. We also use computer tomography scans (CT scans) to assess the bone and determine the position of the single implant.
It is important for you to have sufficient bone to support the implant. If you do not have enough bone, you may still have dental implants. We will safely and effectively correct bone deficiency with bone grafting and sinus lifts.
We then open the gum, drill a small hole into the jaw bone and place the implant into the opening.
Your implant is normally left to heal over 3 to 6 months during which time it becomes an integral part of your jaw bone. To ensure the best results we do not normally fit the permanent crown on the implant during this process. Only if we feel that your bone situation is optimal will the crown be placed on the same day.
Your natural looking crown is fixed to the implant. It will be indistinguishable from your natural teeth, so no one will notice the difference.
